Linen is ideal for warm weather garments. It is cool and the fabric made from it has both crispness and drape. It can be a bit stiff at first but it will soften quite a bit as you use it. Consider winding it several times with a ball winder to loosen up the fibers before knitting or crocheting with it.
Linen is an annual plant used for fiber, yarn, and fabric known as linen. The seeds are also used to create linseed oil, health supplements, and linseed meal for animal feed. Its use dates back as much as 30,000 years. The use of linen became widespread throughout Europe, Asia, and North Africa. It was revered as sacred in Ancient Egypt, common in the Roman Empire, and a popular crop for fabric and paper making in the United States until the early 20th century.
Linen is a bast fiber meaning it comes from the structural fibers of the flax plant. After harvesting and drying the flax plants, they are retted, a process that decomposes the soft tissues of the plant leaving the linen fibers intact. These fibers are 2 to 3 times stronger than cotton and will come softer with use and washing while remaining durable. Linen is an ecological choice as well. Flax crops use substantially less water than cotton and as much less dependent on pesticides and fertilizers.

Machine washable and dry, do not iron - be sure to wash, dry, or block your swatch the same as you will the finished garment. Because this is a cellulose fiber it has no memory and will grow/drape more vertically, especially in larger projects, so we recommend blocking harder on the vertical direction.
